Guiding Village Privacy Policy

Guiding Village helps people find verified remote job opportunities and practical job-search resources. This policy explains how we handle information through GuidingVillage.com and our private administration and backup systems.

Email updates

If you request email updates, we collect your email address, signup and consent dates, the signup form used, and confirmation and unsubscribe status. You must confirm your email before becoming an active subscriber. We use Zoho Mail to deliver requested confirmation messages and newsletters. Subscriber addresses are private, available to authorized administrators, and are not sold or displayed publicly. You can unsubscribe using the link provided in our emails.

We retain subscriber records to manage consent, delivery, and unsubscribe preferences. Contact us to request access, correction, or deletion of your subscriber information. An unsubscribe record may be retained to help prevent unwanted future messages.

Website analytics and technical information

Our first-party analytics measure visits, page views, job and employer interest, general referral sources, and Apply button clicks. Analytics use a random browser identifier that expires after 30 days; this estimates unique browsers rather than identifying named people. Analytics events are retained for up to 90 days. The analytics system does not store full IP addresses, full referral URLs, search terms, or subscriber email addresses. It honors supported Do Not Track and Global Privacy Control signals.

Website hosting and security providers may process network information, including IP addresses and technical logs, to serve and protect the site. Private admin sign-in uses a secure session cookie. Google authorization uses a temporary security cookie to protect the connection process.

Applying for jobs and external sites

Apply links take you to official employer or approved recruiting sites. Information you submit there is handled by that employer or provider under its own privacy policy. Guiding Village does not receive your application through these outbound links. Other external links may also have different privacy practices.

Private Google Drive backup connection

The Google Drive integration is for Guiding Village's authorized administrator to maintain disaster-recovery backups. Public visitors and newsletter subscribers do not need to connect a Google account.

With the administrator's consent, the integration accesses the authorized Google account's email address and account identifier to verify identity, the specifically selected backup folder's metadata, and encrypted backup files created by this integration. We use this access only to upload encrypted recovery archives, verify and download them for recovery tests, and remove expired backup copies according to the configured retention policy. The integration does not request unrestricted access to unrelated Drive files.

Backup archives may contain the site's database, including subscriber records, and the application/configuration needed to restore the service. Archives are encrypted on the server before upload to the private Google Drive folder. The encryption key remains on the server and is not uploaded with the archives. Google OAuth credentials are kept in a restricted server file outside the public web root and are not displayed publicly.

The retention policy keeps the most recent 14 daily, 4 weekly, and 6 monthly recovery points; one archive may serve multiple periods. A separately protected original manual backup is also retained. Backup failures preserve existing good recovery copies. Deleted or changed live information may remain in encrypted recovery copies until those copies expire or are specifically removed.

Google user data is used only for these backup operations. We do not sell it, use it for advertising, or use it to train AI models. Access is limited to authorized administrators and the processing needed to operate this connection. Guiding Village's use and transfer of information received from Google APIs adheres to the Google API Services User Data Policy, including its Limited Use requirements.

The administrator can disconnect the backup connection in private admin or revoke the app's access in Google Account permissions. Disconnecting stops future access; existing encrypted files remain in the administrator's Drive until removed.

Private YouTube publishing connection

Our authorized administrator may connect the Guiding Village YouTube channel through a separate Google OAuth connection. We read the channel identifier and name to verify the intended channel, upload an existing administrator-selected social video with its saved title, description and hashtags, and read the resulting video metadata to confirm the upload. We store the channel identity, returned video ID and URL, visibility, upload status and timestamps in private administration. Public visitors and subscribers do not need to connect YouTube.

Uploads happen through an administrator-requested action or an administrator-enabled daily YouTube schedule. The daily schedule uses the completed video from the 9:00 a.m. New York social batch and uploads it once. Failed generation does not post, and job usage is recorded only after a confirmed public automatic upload. The original video stays on our server. YouTube credentials are stored in a restricted file outside the public web root. We do not sell YouTube data, use it for advertising or train AI models with it. Access is limited to authorized administrators and operation of this publishing connection, subject to the Google API Services User Data Policy and its Limited Use requirements linked above.

The administrator can disconnect YouTube in private admin or revoke the application in Google Account permissions. Disconnecting stops future access and removes local YouTube tokens; it does not delete previously uploaded videos. Uploaded videos are managed in YouTube Studio and are subject to YouTube Terms of Service and the Google Privacy Policy.

Security, contact, and changes

We use restricted admin access, protected credentials, and encrypted off-server recovery copies to safeguard information. No storage or transmission method can guarantee absolute security.
